We truly appreciate the journalists and publications that seek us out and find interest in our hotel and this area of Costa Rica. Please email email@example.com for information regarding Florblanca press and media.
The Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica is one of the world’s five identified Blue Zones, areas where residents live measurably linger lives. There are a number of factors that contribute to this longevity including a strong connection to nature and the community, eating healthy, and moving naturally.
Travel + Leisure Magazine recently explored Private Villas in the Heart of Costa Rica’s Blue Zone and featured Florblanca in their profile. They highlight our “90-minute yoga, indulgent services at Spa Bambu, and more.” They also discuss the abundance of activities in and around Santa Teresa including surfing for all levels as well as “hiking to Montezuma Waterfalls, zip-lining through the jungle, [and] private horseback riding.”
Thank you to Travel + Leisure for including Florblanca in this escape plan to the Blue Zone!
Jetsetter Magazine names Florblanca one of The 9 Best Hotels in Costa Rica!
We are proud to be listed among amazing hotels on this list, including the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica and The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal.
Florblanca is called out for being unique in its location where guests can enjoy both the rainforest setting and the beautiful sandy beaches. Because we’re in Santa Teresa, home to one of the best surf breaks around the world, we’re also known for having a “chill surfer lifestyle with a high-class twist.” We are always striving for the balance between organic nature and pampered luxury – or “rustic luxury” as Jetsetter so aptly calls it.
Thank you so much to Jetsetter for including us in this very special list!
Travel writer Timothy Scott submitted his review of Florblanca for Luxury Latin America and it starts with a stunning summary.
“With its stupendous oceanfront position and gorgeous Asiatic-inspired aesthetic, Florblanca Resort is in a league of its own as a small boutique beachfront hotel with panache, offering true luxury in a far-flung area that mostly appeals to surfers and wanderers, with a secluded jungle setting away from the bustle.”
Timothy’s words mean so much to us as we strive to give our guests a special, unforgettable experience. We encourage you to read his full write-up here – Florblanca Resort Review – to go along on the Florblanca journey with him, from the travel to the arrival, the food, spa, villas, and even a paddleboarding excursion.
We think Timothy sums up the Florblanca experience so well with these words: “For nature lovers who want to really feel like they’re in Costa Rica while still enjoying gorgeous sleeping quarters and fine meals, it’s hard to top Florblanca resort for a relaxed vacation.”
Thank you to Timothy and to Luxury Latin America for including us on your exceptional travel website.
Getaway Travel’s Central America section shared editors Marleen & Lotte’s choices for the 11 Most Special Hotels of Costa Rica. One of Marleen’s choices for this list is Florblanca (thank you, Marleen!). All the hotels they chose had a common thread in their appreciation for nature and the gorgeous Costa Rican outdoors.
Marleen loved how the villas at Florblanca “hide under a green roof of tropical plants. But you can also walk to the beach from your jungle house. And that is precisely what makes Florblanca so special.” She especially loved the open nature of our villas where, with no roof over the bathroom, “you shower here literally among the plants.”
Thank you so much to Getaway Travel and to Marlee de Keyzer for her beautiful tribute to Florblanca for this piece. We’re so happy that you enjoyed our piece of paradise here in Costa Rica.
Recognizing the height of coffee harvesting season, Food & Beverage Magazine highlighted Costa Rica as the “top country for coffee exportation and an idyllic destination for coffee enthusiasts.” They point readers to destinations where they can discover the world of coffee and learn how to make the best of it, including how they can indulge in a Coffee Scrub spa treatment at Florblanca’s Spa Bambu.
You can read the full article here: Get Caffeinated at Peninsula Papagayo. Thank you to Food & Beverage Magazine for including Florblanca in your focus on coffee in Costa Rica.
The Travel section of Forbes Magazine recently picked their very favorite Caribbean Island restaurants for their article, The Best Dining Experiences at Caribbean Restaurants. Though Nectar Restaurant at Florblanca is technically a short distance from the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, we are so excited to be included in this list!
The contributor and writer, Roger Sands, makes note of the Blue Zone way of life here in the Nicoya Peninsula where “locals maintain a largely plant-based diet, avoiding most processed foods and meals typically consist of rice, beans, local vegetables and fruits incorporating meat only a few times a week.” He mentions our hook-to-fork cuisine, organic and locally sourced ingredients and highlights some of his favorite dishes, “Daily Catch Ceviche, Green Curried Prawn Salad and Grilled Local Octopus.”
Thank you, again, to Forbes, for including Florblanca in such a special collection of Caribbean Resort restaurants.

When Brides Magazine came out with their Top 50 Honeymoon Destinations for 2020, we were SO thrilled to be among their favorite “ultimate honeymoon spots for the new year.” We absolutely love to host honeymoons in Costa Rica and do everything in our power to make the occasion special and memorable for the newlyweds.
Brides mentions some of the most beautiful destinations in the world for their Honeymoons list and they give Costa Rica attention for its gorgeous natural beauty. Within Costa Rica, they call out Santa Teresa as a beach town where there’s “wildlife everywhere, the ocean is warm, the waves are perfect and the rainforest above the beach is home to creative kitchens and boutique-y hotels such as Florblanca Resort.”
Honeymooners who choose Costa Rica usually love nature, adventure, and the outdoors. Our guests get to enjoy private villas – including our Honeymoon House – luxurious amenitities, amazing sunsets over the ocean, wild fauna all around, howler monkeys, iguanas, and exotic birds everywhere. It truly is a magical place.
For her article on the Best Boutique Hotels in Santa Teresa, Tomika of Passports & Grub lists Florblanca as one of her top favorites. She mentions the “fresh, healthy, and locally grown food prepared by our chefs at Nectar” as well as our activities and excursions, yoga and Pilates, Spa Bambu, and our private beachfront villas where you can “marvel at the natural beauty, serenity, and energy of Florblanca.”
Thank you so much, Tomika. You are a valued guest and we are honored to be so high on your list of favorites!
We’re thrilled to be listed in Vacation Idea Magazine’s 25 Must-Visit Romantic Getaways. Their recommendations span the globe from New Orleans to NYC, Nicaragua, French Polynesia, the UK, Hawaii, Italy and beyond with ideas for “luxurious resorts” that make “perfect getaways for couples looking for romantic ambiance.”
Florblanca is included as an upscale resort with a spa, yoga and a waterfall pool. It talks about our unique amenities like “two-person hammocks, fully-stocked mini-bars, and freestanding stone bathtubs.” And it makes special mention of Nectar Restaurant, “which prepares healthy, locally-sourced fare with an emphasis on creative seafood entrees.”
Thank you to Vacation Idea Magazine for including us in such a special list. We love to host couples looking for a romantic getaway and have just the right luxuries to make sure it will be worth the adventure.
“Florblanca is the luxury destination of choice.”
In a travel piece about Santa Teresa, Costa Rica called Great Escapes: Santa Teresa, a Refuge With Surf and Sun in Costa Rica, Barron’s gushes about this out-of the-way “blissful escape from the world” that attracts Silicon Valley tycoons, Hollywood celebrities, supermodels, and professional athletes. Santa Teresa’s offerings of exercise and adventure along with fresh and delicious food and a laid-back attitude lets visitors experience a “whole-life detox.”
Barron’s calls out Florblanca as the place to stay, calling it “the luxury destination of choice” and pointing out the charming villas, farm-to-table cuisine at Nectar, and signature coconut scrub at Spa Bambu.
Thank you to Barron’s for including Florblanca in such a beautiful article about our beloved Santa Teresa. We hope you come again soon!
Billed as “THE up and coming go-to spot for barefoot luxury,” Forbes spotlights Santa Teresa as a Girlfriend Getaway destination. The girls on this particular trip stayed at Florblanca and they soaked up the 5-star luxury in their private villas and at Spa Bambu. They especially loved yoga class with Stefano, an Italian born yogi who “embodies why people come to Santa Teresa and never leave.”
The profile goes on to highlight dining, nightlife, and fun, outdoorsy activities around Santa Teresa. These girls got adventurous with ziplining, ATV tours, and horseback riding.
Thank you to Forbes Magazine and to Kerri Zane and Christina Cindrich for spending their time with us.
It’s fitting that Costa Rica is such a popular destination for newlyweds on their honeymoon. The country is ranked #1 on the Happy Planet Index and is one of only five Blue Zones in the world where people live measurably longer lives. This certainly bodes well for newly married couples. And, as Brides Magazine mentions, it has incredible biodiversity for exploration, epic swells, and a strong focus on ecotourism and wellness, all excellent factors for a trip to start off a long and happy marriage.
Florblanca is so pleased to be featured in Brides Magazine’s latest article on honeymoons in Costa Rica, 6 Costa Rica Honeymoon Rentals That Epitomize Pura Vida. We are in outstanding company with the other resorts mentioned on this list including Pacuare Lodge, the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, Rancho Pacifico, and Hacienda AltaGracia.
Thank you to Brides Magazine for including Florblanca in such a wonderful feature.
In their lifestyle travel section, Net-A-Porter made a list of the best surf spots in the world. We are thrilled to be a part of this short list of only 5 places around the globe. Coming in at #2, Florblanca was chosen for its eco-chic vibe and for the fact that the surf dictates our way of life here. We are only steps from the ocean and our town of Santa Teresa is known for world-renowned breaks.
Thank you to Net-A-Porter for considering Florblanca among such excellent company on this list including The Goodland in Santa Barbara, California; Lisbon Surf House in Lisbon, Portugal; Jardin des Douars in Essaouira, Morocco; and Hotel Escondido in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.
As part of their 5 Ways 5 Days campaign, Man Repeller sent writer and creative consultant, Natasha Nyanin, to Costa Rica with the task of styling one item of clothing five different ways for five days. Writer Alex Preston explored the diverse and wild oasis of Costa Rica for the travel section of the March 2018 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
He started his weeks-long journey in the mountains, traveled among volcanoes and ziplines, jungles and beaches, and took in the wildlife, exotic fauna, adventure and luxuries along the way.
The last stop on his journey was our surf town of Santa Teresa and a stay at Florblanca. After surf sessions at Playa Hermosa (where one day the only other people there were Tom and Gisele), he would retreat to the beautiful sunsets, hammocks, and open-air, laid-back air of Florblanca.
We were so happy to host Alex during his explorations and absolutely love the piece he created as a document of his journey and an ode to Costa Rica.
Well + Good Magazine magazine had to see for themselves if Santa Teresa earns its popular nickname of “the new Tulum.” The verdict: Tulum can’t compete.
Kathryn Romeyn ventured to “the land of surf and yoga” and found that Santa Teresa is more than just a beautiful beach. It’s a place connected to the “elements of wild, primal living” with an energy that’s “like an amplifier and allows a healthy spirit to thrive.”
Kathryn highlights Florblanca’s Spa Bambu as a place to “indulge your spa dreams.” She also praises Florblanca’s bespoke Pilates sessions with Lucia.
The spa, pilates and yoga at Florblanca, along with other Santa Teresa attractions, like beachside horse rides, weekend community dances, and superfood cafes, make Santa Teresa a prime destination to relax and renew your energy.
Vogue travel writer, Kathryn Romeyn, visited Santa Teresa and quickly dismissed the popular perception that this destination is merely “the new Tulum.” As one of the world’s five Blue Zones, Santa Teresa in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica is in a class of its own with a “rustic-bordering-on-primal” lifestyle centered around the natural environment spanning mountains, waterfalls, and the ocean.
Florblanca is featured as a luxury resort, “intimate and Edenic,” and is called out for embracing the outdoors and wildlife with its open-air villas, oceanfront yoga shala, exotic Spa Bambu, and spectacular sunsets.
Thank you to Kathryn and Vogue for such a perceptive and beautiful piece. We were so happy to have you visit our end of paradise.
Brides Magazine went in search of the honeymoon destination that’s about to be discovered by couples around the globe who love “sandy beaches, surfing, lush jungle waterfalls, cold coconuts (pipas frias), frosty piña coladas, and epic sunsets” and found Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.
As this pieces points out, if you can handle the abundant wildlife and embrace the rustic wildness of the place, you’ll be in heaven. They feature Florblanca as “hands down the best place you could hope to spend your honeymoon.” From the private and luxurious Honeymoon House bungalow, to Nectar Restaurant, adventurous excursions, yoga, and Spa Bambu, Florblanca has it all. Our villas and amenities are perfect for newlyweds looking to unwind after the ceremony and celebrate their union.
A big thank you to Brides for featuring Florblanca and Santa Teresa as the next honeymoon destination. We’re so appreciative of the kind words and attention.

We are so grateful to Guides for Brides for recommending Florblanca to their readers. We hope to see some of you soon!
While we’ve been singing the praises of our hometown of Santa Teresa for years, we’re excited that the New York Times is casting their light on what they call “the next great south-of-the-border destination.”
In a Wanderlust piece for T Magazine, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica is described as having “an edge-of-the-world vibe that still feels remote and inspires dreams of relocation.” White sand beaches, near-perfect surf, horseback riding, and yoga accent our paradise with plenty of options for adventure, luxury, and delicious food. This piece highlights Florblanca as the most high-end hotel in Santa Teresa, with special mention of our villas, Spa Bambu, and Nectar Restaurant.
Thank you to the New York Times for spreading the word about our paradise here in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. We welcome travelers looking for that rare mix of adventure and luxury in a destination that’s still (for now!) under the radar.

Like the living rooms, open-air bathrooms take relaxation to another level, with minimalist hand-carved stone soaking tubs, oversized rain showers, and foliage at every turn.”
Thank you to Lonny Magazine for planting daydreams of Florblanca in the minds of your readers.

They catered to our every want and need, treated us like family and greeted us by our first names. We felt like we were at home.”
We want to send Lauren and Austen a huge congratulations on their marriage and wish them many more adventures in the years to come.

She visited resorts all over the region to report on her best recommendations for a Costa Rica wedding.
Florblanca is excited to have been chosen as the “On the Sea” resort choice in the issue’s feature story, “Getting Married in Costa Rica.”
Monihan says: “The Honeymoon House is where it’s at with a master suite and sliding doors that open to the beach, Jacuzzi and hammock for two.” Our Honeymoon House is truly a luxurious, romantic, and unique experience for newlyweds.
Florblanca Resort has been host to many destination weddings and honeymoons, and is a favorite among brides and grooms for its intimate environment, romantic villas, delicious, fresh and healthy food, plus all the amenities and services needed for the ideal Costa Rica beach wedding.
A huge thank you to Aimee Monihan and Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine for visiting Florblanca and including us in your feature piece!
Florblanca is thrilled to have been a part of a New York Times Travel article profiling our home town, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Journalist Dave Seminara was a guest at Florblanca recently and he saw the opportunity to spotlight an important issue in our small town that is sure to reverberate with other off-the-beaten-path tourist destinations.
The article – In a Costa Rican Beach Town, the Road Less Paved – sheds light on the wear and tear of the increasingly busy dirt roads leading to and from Santa Teresa. The stress on these roads from traffic creates an extremely bumpy car ride and also generates a great deal of dust during the dry season and mud during the green season, making pedestrian traffic more challenging.
People in town have differing opinions about solutions for the roads and Mr. Seminara reveals the complexities of the issues for residents, business owners, expats, and travelers.
Florblanca Earns a World’s Best Spa Distinction from Condé Nast Traveller.

The reviewers loved our world famous Santa Teresa surf breaks and reveled in the challenge of surfing from dawn until they could barely carry their boards back to their room.
After an exhilarating day in the surf, recovery was aided by deep tissue massages at our very own Spa Bambu followed by a delicious, nutritious, fresh and healthy dinner at Nectar, our laid back yet elegant restaurant.

Florblanca Resort was recently chosen as a backdrop for a June/July 2013 W Magazine Fashion Feature photo shoot in Santa Teresa. The feature shows Joan Smalls and Liya Kebede on a Costa Rican adventure showcasing fashion from Proenza Schouler, Jennifer Fisher, Dannijo, A Peace Treaty, Isabel Marant, Christopher Kane, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Versace, Emporio Armani, La Perla, Rodarte, Michael Michael Kors, Marni, Burberry Prorsum, Prada, and Chloe. Feature photographer is Mikael Jansson and the stylist is Edward Enninful.
As if we needed anything to make our Florblanca beach more beautiful. We think this W Magazine spread did the trick!
CNN Travel recently toured Costa Rica, profiling some of the more upscale hotels and resort communities. Lucky for us, they planned a stop in Santa Teresa where “the wide white-sand beaches of Santa Teresa have become Costa Rica’s hippest luxury escape.” Florblanca is mentioned in the article as a full-service resort “that won’t disappoint.”
Among the highlights of our resort, the author mentions horseback riding, surfing and yoga. She also mentions Costa Rica’s Sustainable Tourism Program that qualifies resorts to be designated as eco-friendly. We are proud to have earned 4 leaves out of a possible 5 and a Certificate of Sustainable Tourism through that program.
The word is out! Florblanca Resort has been featured in Outside Magazine as one of their Life Changing Adventure Trips for Surfing. We couldn’t be more pleased to be recognized by this publication and we hope to continue to impress our guests with our accommodations and amenities.
Surfers looking for a place to rest after a day of riding the waves will feel right at home at Florblanca’s Surf House. This fairly recent addition to our resort offers a spectacular oceanfront vista, three air-conditioned sleeping rooms, one bathroom, large refrigerator and plenty of comfy outdoor seating. Able to accommodate up to six guests, the Surf House is the perfect place to bring a group – and at only $400/night for two people ($50/night per additional guest), this is one vacation that won’t break the bank. See our Villas and Rates.
Here’s what the popular vacation travel magazine Travel + Leisure has to say about Florblanca Resort in it’s article “Costa Rica’s Hottest new Hotels and Lodges.”
“It’s not often that you come across an Asian-inspired resort in Costa Rica-especially one located on Playa Santa Teresa’s best surf break. Here, it’s more about blissing out than riding the waves. There are only a few dozen guests at any time, and everything is designed to soothe-from the boulder-studded pool, where you’ll feel like you’re swimming in an aqueous Zen garden, to the bamboo spa bungalow, with its ponds and shoji screens. Each of Florblanca’s 11 villas is accented with organic fabrics and native hardwoods, and all have terraces outfitted with hammocks. (Book the Surf House, steps from the ocean.) After an evening yoga class on the beach, kick back with a tamarind mojito-or two-from the open-air Nectar bar.”
Frommers listed Florblanca as one of the Best Luxury Hotels in Costa Rica. Here is what they say about our resort:
“The individual villas at this intimate resort are some of the largest and most luxurious in the country. The service and food are outstanding, and the location is breathtaking, spread over a lushly planted hillside steps away from Playa Santa Teresa.”
