Balance
Florblanca Pilates Practice
“Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralyzed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings.” ~ Rumi

The idea of balance has many meanings. It can refer to components of fitness such as strength and flexibility, to the act of standing on one leg, or to the symmetry of the body. It can be applied to our lifestyle where we strive for a balance between mental and physical needs, work and play, diet and exercise. It can also be used to describe a well-designed Pilates program, in which the exercises are proportionately distributed to work different parts of the body in a session, creating a holistic approach to conditioning.
Each person has different needs in terms of imbalances and how to alleviate them. Identifying and addressing these needs is the first step on the path to achieving balance.
